Hmong Children Crafts
Did you know that paper cutting is one of the most popular Hmong children crafts? Paper cutting is a traditional Asian art, and has been used as expressive decoration by royalty and local townspeople as well.
Invite your children to a fun session of cutting anything from paper dolls to paper lanterns. Keep it simple yet creative. A good idea would be to draw patterns for the children to cut and then color. If you have older kids, the patterns can be more detailed, even including some number coding for "building" the craft.
If your children advance beyond crayons, encourage them to dabble in watercolors to create lovely Hmong children crafts. Then hang their decorations around the house for a period of time in honor of the Hmong people, or add a sample of the children crafts to your fridge collection.
Hmong culture originated in Laos and has now extended to a large population in the United States.
Sewing and cross-stitching is another favorite craft for children and adults alike. This tradition was begun to help keep the decorative symbols of the Hmong people alive by emphasizing them on their attire.
Youngsters have fun even as they develop an appreciation for another culture when cutting and assembling the decorations that are then placed on sleeves and collars. Sometimes the children can enlighten their grandparents, too!
Color and expression are important ingredients in making Hmong children crafts. Get your paper or fabric patterns and colors together and begin!
