Halloween Party Ideas for Kids
You'll have a wickedly wonderful time planning Halloween party ideas for kids. Halloween permits all ages to act like kids!
Let's get right to the fun of it all: First, do you have a CD of spooky music that is perfect for this time of year? If not, get one. Remember the song, "Monster Mash"? Break out the old tunes and crank 'em up!
Have the kiddos dance like crazy monsters, and then FREEZE in their monster positions when the music stops. The first child to move is delegated to take over at the "start/stop" control of the song.
Little people will be delighted with another game, one that's played like "hot potato." Play some Halloween music and have the tykes sit on the ground in a circle. Then have the children roll a small pumpkin or gourd to each other. The goal is to not get caught with the "ball" when the teacher or parent stops the music! You'll be amazed at how fast and wild this can get!
One of my personal favorite party ideas (that I also recall from my sorority initiation days) is called "Creepy and Crawly!"add rubber snakes, spiders, rats, bugs, and any other creepy items to the noodles. Follow the directions to make spaghetti noodles, then drain and rinse the noodles. Add oil and grapes to the mixture for texture. Then
Before beginning the game, place a towel over the pot so the kids cannot see what's in it. One child at a time comes up to the pot, sticks their hand in, and rummages around the goop for one of the objects. This game can be timed and also can be played in a dark room as part of a haunted house!
Never at a loss for Halloween party ideas for kids, I really enjoy a game we call the "mummy race".
- Divide the kids up into two teams.
- Choose one child from each team to be the mummy.
- Each team has to wrap up their mummy in crepe paper in a set amount of time. (Be sure to leave the eyes and mouth areas open!)
- After each team has finished wrapping their mummy, the mummy has to hop across the established finish line (without tearing in two any piece of crepe paper).
The timing for this game could be that each child on the team has fifteen seconds to do his own wrapping and then it continues to his or her teammate. This will depend on how many players you have.
Have plenty of ghostly prizes and treats on hand to go along with the many "tricks" associated with your Halloween party ideas for kids!
