Christmas Games for Kids
'Tis the Season for . . . Christmas Games for Kids! Chilly weather and endless enthusiasm make this the perfect time of year for holiday games.
What type of candy do you have an abundance of at Christmas time? Candy canes! Let's have a "Candy Cane Pass" - it's like a relay game. And it's simple. You'll need four candy canes per team. (Have a few extra sticks of candy in case some break.)
The first player in each team holds the four candy canes between his or her fingers. The candy canes are passed down the line to each teammate. The goal is to not drop the candy canes. Whichever team ends with the most canes intact wins! This can be played in a series of repetitions, and with or without the candy wrappers!
This game can also be played with an orange. The orange is held under the chin and passed down the line between teammates. Whichever team drops the orange has to start over again. It's a race against the clock!
Another fun Christmas game for kids is known in the classroom as, "Do You Recall?" You'll need approximately 18 Christmas-related items and a box.
- Show the items in the box to the children.
- Remove one or more items out of the box, without the children seeing the items.
- Have the children guess which items are missing.
For older kids, you can put the items on a cookie sheet.
- Let the kiddos look at the tray for 20-30 seconds.
- Remove the tray.
- Have the kids write down as many items as they can remember on the cookie sheet before you holler, "Stop!"
- The child with the most correct items wins.
Many everyday games can be adapted to work as Christmas games for kids . Simply change the objects or the words and you're ready for a fun, holiday game!
