Share the Exitement of Building Bird Feeder Children Crafts

Your children will learn some terrific lessons from their bird feeder children crafts!
Nature abounds, so why not teach your youngsters all about their feathered friends? Spring, summer, fall, or winter ? all seasons are appropriate when it comes to taking care of wild birds.
In fact, all you need is an empty milk carton. Or how about a pinecone that has fallen from one of your trees?
Bird feeder children crafts can be very simple to make and will definitely provide year-round pleasure for your resident birds.
To make a bird feeder from a milk carton, all you need is a half-gallon carton, some string, and colors of your choice (crayons, paint, or markers). Add bird food (seeds, nuts, dried fruit or bread), and there you have it!
Follow these easy steps:
- Cut out large windows from all four sides of the carton, leaving a couple of inches on the top and bottom, then color.
- Poke two holes through the top of the milk carton, and tie the string through each hole. Fill the bottom of the carton with your bird food.
- Insert a small dowel through the bottom of the feeder for your feathered friends to perch upon.
- Hang the feeder outside (by the strings) in the tree of your choice. The birds will love it, so remember to frequently replace the bird food with a fresh supply.
During the winter, help your neighborhood birds by making them a pinecone bird feeder. Put your creative cap on, and before you know it your birds will have cold-weather nutrients. All you need is a couple of pinecones, a blend of lard and peanut butter*, birdseed, popcorn, and string.
Three easy steps:
- Roll the pinecones in lard*, then in birdseed or popcorn.
- Attach a string that's long enough for the pinecone to hang from a tree branch.
- Choose a tree within sight, hang your feeder, and watch the birds!
* Don't use straight peanut butter - it can strangle smaller birds, because they cannot get it off their beaks. It's best to use a blend such as cornmeal and shortening mixed with peanut butter. Let this mix sit overnight, and you've created a perfect example of bird feeder children crafts for the benefit of all the neighborhood birds.
