Part travelogue, part educational and part promotional, this set of DVDs enthralls you with sounds, sights and events in California. Produced between the early thirties and the late 50s these clips preserve a lively record of California’s history of the years just prior to and after World War II.

One aspect of these clips that is difficult to ignore is the tremendous pride that people of California harbor for their state. The Scenic beauty of the state, its many attractions and the abundance of natural resources portrayed in these clips seem to justify this pride.

The clips about the fire department and one on narcotics speak of the keen interest authorities in California took in the safety and well being of its citizens. While the promotional tone is pretty evident in some of the clips, this should not surprise anybody, since these clips were sponsored by businesses with the intention of promoting their wares. Nevertheless, you cannot deny the historic value or informational content of these clips.

The clips on these DVDs were produced with the intention of recording California’s history and they serve this purpose quite well. Well-preserved images and audio make viewing these clips a beneficial experience. I am certain they will delight anybody with even a slight interest in Californian history.
